Chihuly: Celebrating Nature by yogiw

Chihuly: Celebrating Nature

Today we started out in the afternoon for our fifth Wilde 2.0 Adventure. We were headed to Columbus to experience the vibrant colors and stunning glass of Dale Chihuly. "Chihuly: Celebrating Nature" is on display at the Franklin Park Conservatory and we bought tickets for Chihuly Nights.

It has been nearly a decade since the Conservatory last featured a full-scale Chihuly exhibition and while select pieces have been on view since 2009, they are exhibiting its full collection through March, the largest Chihuly collection in a botanical garden. 22 installations in all.

If you're in the neighborhood, it's a must see. I love Chihuly glass at night. It was much like the Biltmore exhibit I saw in 2018 but on a smaller scale. The light drizzle and cold air of Columbus was much better than the heat and humidity of Asheville.

In my photo, Pale Confetti Chandelier, circa 2003, is part of the Conservatory's permanent collection. From the brochure: This unique sculpture was created for the artist's 2003 exhibit, "Chihuly at the Conservatory." Its pastel palette represents a departure for Chihuly who frequently works in bold tones.
