I wanted to try to capture the eclipse of the moon last night but we had a thick covering of clouds so I couldn't try it.
I am seeing a lot of wonderful blood moon and eclipses of the moon shots on here today so I though it would be nice to share them hear. I would love to see them all.
We took real photos of the moon, but the one in this photo is doctored. I wanted to capture a photo of how excited this little guy was to learn about the eclipse.
@stephenfox below your picture are three little dots click and they give you a link to copy and paste here. they are next to the like and comment numbers!
Here's my collage from last night. We had some wispy cloud cover right when it was turning red, so those aren't as sharp as I'd hoped, but it was pretty spectacular and fun to try to photograph!
And while we were waiting for the eclipse to start, I took a shot of the moon through my old telescope. No adapter or anything (guess what's now on my wish list?) but I thought it came out OK for handheld against the telescope viewfinder. :)
Northern Virginia. Unfortunately the sky was very overcast, and by the time the clouds started to clear, the eclipse was over. These shots were taken during some rare moments I was able to catch a glimpse of the moon.
Well, my eclipse shot is no different than anyone else's here except for the fact that I had DEW all over my lens and didn't realize it!!! UGH!! So here's a shot from a little before the eclipse started that I thought was pretty cool.
@mittens Wow, these moon images are fantastic! I really enjoyed looking at them, and I can't wait to show my husband. I know he'll love these shots. Thanks for doing this!
I slept through the entire show and only woke up just as the moon was sinking below the horizon, but managed to get this quick shot. (P&S hand held, East Anglia UK)
@olivetreeann It was cloudy here also in western PA so I only got a quick glimpse of it when the clouds under the moon parted slightly for a few seconds. It is great to see all the pictures here.
In the country outside Manhattan, Kansas. Not much compared to some of the gorgeous shots that have been posted, but considering the limitations of my skill and my camera, this is actually better than I expected. Cropped from a zoomed-in shot as far as the camera could zoom.
Exiting Earth's umbra - read capture dialog for details.
We were lucky in Nova Scotia too. :)
In Michigan USA

I loved sitting in the garden watching this eclipse with hubby, cup of tea in hand and two confused pussy cats at our feet!

The best I could do with clouds

Had to drive around to get above the fog!
