I think the general thought is that we would like to choose some of our own words for our December challenge and these have proven very popular and itโs still growing: September-List: 10 Pages / 266 Photos October-List: 35 Pages / 966 Photos November-List: 57 Pages / 1,617 Photos (so far)
It could not be easierโฆ
Simply Nominate your word to this forum post and it may be included. You can nominate as many words as you like and if you see a word you like, just add it again... (the more times a word is mentioned, the more chance it will be used).
In November we used all the words that were nominated over 4 times we could re-choose some of the words nominated 2 and 3 times?
I will then count up the number of times that a word has been added and the top 31 will be our list for December.
Please Decide-4-December between now (26th) and the Mid-day Friday (30th) for them to be included. If you have a word that you would like to see on a particular day, please Nominate which day as well, for example: โSantaโ on the 25th?
Words nominated so far include: Gift, Indigo, Power, Santa and Animal.
I think I am going to do the December holiday challenge. I have enjoyed the November word challenge. However, I need something less challenging for December. Perhaps I can go back to a word challenge in January.
Could we please use the word "JOY" for 25 December?
Because for those of us for whom Christmas is motivated by a religious belief the word is very fitting!!! And for those who don't celebrate Christmas... the word can still be used in many ways!!!
(Unless this word has already been over-used for challenges... (Sorry, my first challenge, I'm new to this!!!))
Nominate:
After Dark
Frost
Snow
Christmas Dinner
Green and Red
Sorry, not "bokeh." An overused term that really many people, even smart ones here, misunderstand. It is just about nicely blurred backgrounds, that's it.
@gphelps5 - thanks for including Hanukkah!
Would it be okay to have as Dec. 15th instead (that is the last night as all the candles on the menorahs will be lit)?
Others:
- snow,
- family/friends,
- (greeting) card,
- festive food,
- Church/Synagogue/Temple ...
- decorated tree
- menorah will be a real challenge for non-Jews, but perhaps candelabra
Very interesting idea! Some pairs would be easy to capture, while others would really require thinking outside the box. I'd suggest adding 3 or 4 within a month to give it a try first and then re-assess what people thought.
@gphelps5@nadaa makes sense for december or january. I am sure that many new people will start on Jan 1 2013 so any lists could help them generate some momentum. Whatever the theme/list for December I will have a go. Thanks for doing this Bulldog.
@gphelps5 :
light - dark
hot - cold
Festive - somber
giving - taking
(I'll also make note I will be away, and without my computer, the first few days of December, and will post photos upon return home. Don't want anyone to think I've dropped out after putting in some suggestions.)
@gphelps5 Yes, Nada's idea is a brilliant one - gives so much more scope and you can choose to suit your mood!! I prefer words which are not too specific and are more open to interpretation.
Light/dark will be good. Hot/Cold too. I remember seeing my uncle put some alcohol over some ice and set it on fire to try and melt it. He was drunk but would take a cool shot.
@gphelps5 Thanks for including me! I really am going to probably be loose for December. I have to deal with my daughter, & while I am trying to take the shots every day, I am not able to upload them that often. While at the hospital was a real challenge, that I often did not meet. Now that she is out, & we are having to adjust to her new reality, & moving her in with us, we are still not back to normal, what ever that will be now. I will hope that things have settled down by January, & will look for your January list. Thank you!
I am sorry sorry to hear about your daughter but please to hear she is coming home. Please feel free to jump in and out of the list and any order you like, whenever you like. Simply look at it as a list of words for inspiration, then you get the chance.
Take care of your daughter and yourself, my best wishes are with you.
