Following are the images I've selected as finalists for the Street #32 competition. I would really like to encourage voters to view the 30 images entered into Street #32, they are all worth viewing:

I don't think it's customary to annotate why an image was selected as a finalist, but in this case I've chosen to do so. It is not to promote any particular image, but simply to share what specifically drew my attention to these particular images.
1. Untitled, by @365street. This image is a great example of the "decisive moment". The photographer saw the scene developing, anticipated the action the subject would take and so was ready to make an image when the decisive moment occurred.
2. After the Rain, by @brender. Color, contrast, and pattern make this a very strong image. Excellent timing to have the subject framed by the pattern
3. A Meet in the Street, by @gozoinklings. This image is a strong example of gesture and light. The more I studied the light in this image, the more I was struck that the light, only partially on the subject, strengthened the impact of gesture. The importance of light and gesture was a frequent topic of photographer Jay Maisel.
4. Prom Season #2, by @ukandie1. This image also has gesture that doubles as an implicit leading line. The leading lines in this composition repeatedly draw the eye in a circular motion through this image emphasizing movement.
5. Bubble Blower on Pacific Beach, by @kathyboyles. This image demonstrates the power of simplicity in an image and how "proper exposure" is relative. The low key exposure results in removal of distraction by other potentially competing elements in the image and forces the full attention of the viewer on the subject...the man and sweeping large bubble invoking an emotional response (likely sparked childhood memories) in the viewer.
Voting will be open for 3 days ending Sunday, June 4th at midnight.
