I know I’m going to regret this, but…. Here goes…. 🥴
some years ago someone started a theme for the month of April of photographing the same thing every day... i can't recall who that was, but as no one else was leading the charge i started this challenge up in April 2020 and then again in April 2021 and again in 2022... AND again in 2023…. and quite a few of you decided to join me...
Well... April 1st is just a couple of days away, and we all know how important tradition is, right?
the deets:
pick a subject, any subject, so long as it is something you will have access to every day during the month of April... in 2020 I picked my bedroom window (we were in the midst of the COVID lockdown)... and then in 2021 i picked a game piece i named "secret agent man"... And for 2023 i picked this little yellow tram from Portugal… (we don’t speak of my 2022 subject 🙄)
anyhoo, pick a subject and then think of a new and different way to take a picture of if every day...
that's it... there are no other rules! you can try different photography techniques, different perspectives, different cameras, camera settings and lenses, different processing styles.... different locations (if your subject is portable) the world's your oyster!
this is an exercise in creativity and stick-to-it-iveness...
play along for a couple of days, a week, or the complete month...
I'll have a go this year for the first time, did think of doing a tree or a selfie but also quite fancy photographing the alleyway entrance that is opposite my house. The latter has an advantage that it is likely to be different every day with whoever is walking down it. Would this be acceptable? See my "Anything Goes" Album.
@ludwigsdiana hey Diana - “your project, your rules!” No one judges you but yourself so if you want to choose various ducks, then choose various ducks…. It’s all good 🙃
bahahahaha 2022 I had forgotten that
I've been thinking about this and had been thinking of exploring knots in trees, so one subject category rather than a single object
one year I took a toy koala around the property all month
I was looking back on my 30 days and my first was in 2014 when a 365er who is no longer here posted it - it was March and 31 days. I hosted in 2017 and 2019 in April and it became 30 days. Since you took over in 2020 I have done them all - I did stop half way in 2022.
Hopefully I can find something interesting for 2024
I’ve not tried this before but I think I’ll give it a go but I need to brainstorm with myself to see what I can come up with for a month - it sounds like an endurance test but should be fun
Thanks for this great challenge. I took to it straight away!! I chose the word “old” which has a couple of hundred (or so) synonyms!! Very doable for a lazy person like me.
@johnfalconer well…. You’re meant to be choosing “one subject”…. How you interpret that is really up to you! I never thought about it as being a word…. But - why not?? The key is to be creative in thinking how you approach the chosen subject - and I don’t see why that wouldn’t work as well for a word as it would for a thing…

The Christmice REALLY want to do this again this year, but the Lego Camera people have decided it's their turn.
2021 - water.
2022 - a tree in my yard.
2023 - flowers (a loose interpretation of one subject.)
I have thoughts on this years but having commitment issues. I will commit with that first image on the first!
If l can think of a subject in the next few days I will be in as well
I think I'm going to do my garden, but similar to the Rainbow month with each day being for a specific plant in there.
Other thought was a month of the sky, but maybe I'll do that one later...
Thanks @northy for challenging us!
Here's my month for 2020 if anyone is interested https://365project.org/lsquared/365/2020-04
