Lovely sunny day today so I nipped along to take a pic of the newly scrubbed Senate House in all its glory only to find the view blocked by marquees, and police cars filled with dogs (gave me some satisfaction that they were as barky as Monty!). I asked the man with the biggest camera what was happening but he proved useless apart from saying the action didn't start till 4pm. So it's not often I look up Royal Appointments but for you splendid 365'ers... tonight is the Guild of Benefactors' Ceremony and Dinner at the Senate House attended by the Chancellor, Prince Philip. Unfortunately he didn't wander into shot for me but the porters were out in their best top hats and tail coats and this lady porter was clearly enjoying the event. Not quite the composition I was after but I was trying not to get arrested.
Many thanks for all your lovely comments on the last few pics - they are all greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the info Judith, much appricated and the photo is great as well. Pity a fellow photographer could not be more helpful, maybe he didnt want you taking his shot!!!!!
ooh, brilliant shot - I love her expression - I was having a wander in town yesterday and also took a picture of the squeaky clean Senate House - it's so white now it looks like a wedding cake - I wondered about the marquee but must have been there too early as there were no porters and police about...
