Apologies to those people who have had 'The Sun'll Come out..' as an ear worm since yesterday..... Anyway it did but I honestly think I am running out of ideas for photos - I need to move towns! This is John Keys (aka Johannes Caius), co-founder of Gonville and Caius College. Born in Norwich in 1529 he was physician to Edward VI, Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth. In 1568 he was dismissed being simultaneously accused of atheism and adherence to the Catholic faith. Life was complicated in those days..... But he did have a splendid moustache.
great sculpture and moustache - ooh and an idea to pinch - we've got sculptures like that on the church building! And I haven't posted them yet either.
Very nice moustache - nice pants too. I stayed in the Masters lodge at Gonville and Caius College once - the Master (is that what you call them?) used to be my boss at Leeds. Don't remember much except for seeing an owl on the window sill and being totally amazed by that. It just sat and looked at us for ages.
Sorry Judith, I forgot about your picture. I altogether missed the moustache theme. I like your choice here. Are his tights saggy or did he have varicose veins? @fueast Like Poe and the raven!
@fueast Yes, yes they are definitely friendlier and much cuter. And supposedly wise. Wish I had been a bit more owly and a bit less...other things. "Those were the days..."
Great, theme shot, I think you are very lucky having all the wonderful buildings in Cambridge to photograph . The I suppose I am lucky being able to take country side shots from the house and garden
Only just read about 'earworms' before I saw your picture or I wouldn't have known what you meant !!! A bit out of news link in NZ !! I have been checking your back photos & what a lot of faves Judith !!! An odd contradictory reason for getting the sack from such a fine job but much to be thankful to him in your lovely city !!!
@meisen325@rich57 It's spelt (irregular form - proper English) or spelled (regular form - simpler and preferred by Americans ;0) ) like 'mouse' because it's like having a mouse living under your nose. @fueast We all have owls on our windowsills waiting for the post. These days you would be able to remember everything about the Master's Lodge because of all the photo ops it afforded! BTW Some Colleges with women in charge have Presidents, some have Mistresses but the the magnificent Jean Thomas who became the first woman in charge at St Catherine's is Master of the college.
This is certainly the oldest moustache entered for the theme ;). I realized finishing my project last year was relatively easy because I travelled so much. It's so much harder now. But at least you live in a very photogenic town and you're obviously making the most of it. You can come over here anytime, you know ;).
@fueast Like Poe and the raven!
