So should I have cropped those ducks??? Gorgeous spring day today. A coot was working like a trooper going back and forth to the reeds to bring extra nest material for his demanding wife (who sat on the nest giving instructions and titivating a bit).
I'm not going to comment on 'the big argument' thread that has been playing out (because as a mother my opinion would be worthless apparently) but I am going to say @scrivna you are doing a great job. Don't be put off by the vocal minority. And no I'm not easily offended - I just think there's no need for nastiness towards anybody.
I love the lighting on the swan - she's really showcased well. I have a hard time with cropping choices. I think the crop may have been a little too tight if you got rid of the ducks. Plus, they make the white swan appear all the more magestic in comparison! Beautiful!
Lovely capture of the swan's wings and ruffley (sp.?) feathers. I also like that you left the ducks in the pic.
Oh, and good for you on that note to @scrivna. If I were in his shoes I'd be tearing my hair out.
Nice feather and bum detail- although damn - does this mean I can't post the swan pic I took this morning? Its all I've got and am going to be late home...I'm with you regarding other issues.
I like the ducks too, I would have been undecided too. You want the swan to stand out and think the ducks may detract, but they don't. As said they add to the picture. Beautiful picture
The little plain everyday ducks only compare the magnificence of that beautiful swan so I think better in. Love the way he/she is just displaying the feathers slightly, no rushing around there !!! Spring is a busy time on the water !!
Ok.....I like this as is.....beautiful swan detail and reflections....leave the ducks in...adds perspective and draws your eye up the picture. and...hear hear to your comments.
Oh it's swan day today - you lucky people out swan watching on this fine spring equinox day (apparently according to google). I like the ducks - would have liked to see the coot too - can't have everything.
Judith you've done a great job here, swans are really hard to photograph , the whites can get blown out, but yours are full of detail. I had to laugh at @jannaellen comment re the swans bottom......I cannot say I am qualified to comment on the quality of a swans bottom
This is very beautiful! The ducks don't disturb me at all!
I agree, @scrivna you're doing a great job, it's your site and you should make it as you want it. Didn't want to be involved in this thread, I'm not here for this.
Fabulous detail on ruffley (sp?) wings of said swan, prefer ducks in as I think it would be tight and unbalanced if they were out......
as to thread.....no idea what the issues are but definitely go with the "lets be nice" mentality.
Great shot and I'm loving those ducks - they make for such a nice contrast :-) And I'm not a mum but kind of just feel like staying away from any of the non-photo discussions from now on...it's just not worth it!
Oh, and good for you on that note to @scrivna. If I were in his shoes I'd be tearing my hair out.
You made me go read the discussion well skim through it, still none the wiser :D
great viewpoint great shot
