We met up with our very dear friend Sandra in London on Sunday. She's over on business but has brought one of her sons and his friend over as well. I included Brick Lane as a wild card in my list of suggested activities but it was the top choice. I'm not sure when exactly the kids segued from museums and a milk-shake to street art and a pint but it's clearly happened at some point. It was a fun afternoon and the boys have been left to do other parts of London today - the friend has never been to Europe before and we were a bit worried about Brick Lane being be his entire experience of our country even if it is fun! Anyway - I'm loving the new lens and slowly getting used to backing away from everything! The detail is great though and although I couldn't get the whole of this very cool (as always) artwork in Hanbury Street using the 50mm it made up for it with texture I think.
Three good things:
1. Keeping up with friends - despite living in different continents we see each other most years even if only briefly.
2. Diversity.
3. Fish, chips and Guinness
Street art and a pint suddenly appears and never leaves......the end!!!!! of childhood.....love this Judith.......ooo might just have to have a little peek at your new lens......fantastic detail, love it!!
Great shot Judith, funnily enough I have a pic of the image of the left half of your shot! So happy you are enjoying the 50mm, sometimes it can be a bit of a nuisance not being able to get everything in the shot but it often makes one find a new angle to shot from....happy snapping.
Love the way you have cropped this even if you couldn't get it all in your new lens....must try using mine like this.
Wish I had a someone who know the proper London to show me the sights like this!! Wonderful art & perfect detail.
@happypat Oh well there's often a London meet up! You could come down on the 28th - I'm hoping some of the London lot are going to show me their favourite photo spots or failing that a good pub!
@happypat Drat - it's a 50 min trip to King's Cross from here (except Sundays we discovered yesterday!) so it's a bit easier for me - but you could come to us as well and combine it with a Cambridge trip!
@judithg any trip to either London or Cambridge would be fabulous next time there is a meet up in either of those places, will really do my best to come down if that's OK!
@happypat Definitely OK Pat! And we have a better spare room while Rachel's away (don't tell her!) Brick Lane was packed with photographers - it's fun for a while and then definitely time to move on.
Wonderful colors and textures I have that same problem with my 50mm lens - always getting too close and then getting mad at the camera for not autofocusing. Love your 3 things - especially #3.
Super capture of some really neat art! I find using just the 50 a bit limiting, but I've done it all day for the creamy-dreaminess our Canon 50 gave us (and 'cause I hate carrying and hanging lenses!)
LOVE this! For some reason "East End Boys and West End Girls" is running through my mind. Sounds like you had a delightful day!! And the #3 Fish and Chips caught my eye as well. :)
I'm not a real enough photographer to tip you off to any good photo shots, but pubs...now, I can help you with pubs - at least those in my neck of the woods. Try the Albion if you're eating too, Narrowboat for a sunny pint or two on the towpath, and the Candid Cafe or Simmons on the Cally Road for cosy catch-ups over big glasses of drinkable plonk. All handy for Kings Cross, too!
