Monty likes to take his teddies outside but then gets distracted and leaves them under a bush somewhere. This poor soul stayed out all night in the rain and I put him on the line to dry but it kept raining on him so he's been there for weeks through snow and ice. So he won't make it back into the house and I'm not even sure Monty will get him back unless I go soft and stick him in the washing machine. I was aiming for a laundry shot because it's been such a lovely day but my clothes are not photogenic it seems.
Three good things:
1. A lovely walk with Rebecca gossiping about that rotten Hilary Mantel having a go at our Duchess of Cambridge - I know who I'd rather look like and I still haven't finished Wolf Hall (thinking I might have another try though),
2. Adam slightly improved after being off school with nasty painful laryngitis and another cold (I thought he'd had his turn this year).
3. Huge pile of ironing done - shame I've only got the two loads of washing I did today still to go ;0/
Was wondering if Wolf Hall was worth reading but a very rude summing up of the Duchess I thought...she is no oil painting either!! To be fair I think she was reading about being a royal & it didn't sound quite as bad when you heard her reading it!
Poor teddy he looks very pathetic hanging by his armpits on the line!
Until I read this I had forgotten about my ironing but it will have to wait!
Is it not half term in Cambridge this week? It will be quiet in your house with Adam not speaking, poor boy.
Good photo BTW an interesting crop....nifty 50?
Mantel is now saying she was talking about what the media are reducing Kate to but if this is the case then, as a wordsmith, she should have been able to express herself more clearly! I have to say, I find her, Mantel, extremely strange! I love your shot, he looks so sad hanging there on the line. Funny how Monty rejects 'weathered' toys, Bertie infinitely prefers them!
Oh no....where have I been didn't hear H Mantel on Kate.......and haven't ordered Wolf hall or the Bring out the Dead or whatever the next one is called..still slogging through Elizabeth Jane Howard a brilliant charity shop find!!.re. the photo ...as long as it's monty's teddy and not Monty I think its fab!!
@happypat@tishpics No I don't think she was trying to be quite so rude but she should have known what the press would do - and she's really quite an oddball anyway I think! Yes - nifty 50. I'm rather in love with it because it doesn't weigh much! Half term last week here - way too early and as it turns out this week would have been more convenient. Not long at all till they finish for GCSEs and a 'speaking and listening' English exam on Friday which could be interesting if things don't radically improve. I was having a glandular fever panic but we've googled and decided it isn't - and I really hope we're right!!
Oh, this poor thing looksso pathetic. You must save him! I'm sure a spin in the washer (and dryer?) will bring him back to life. As for H. Mantel's remarks, I hear they were taken out of context but still...You are right that she seems somewhat odd. I read Wolf Hall only but Hank read the second one too.
Love the shot....when we were kids we hid our favourite teddies in a very thick hedge and they were not discovered until it was leafless in winter!!! They were duly resurrected via the washing machine and are still safe to this day!!!
Aww for all he's been through he deserves a tumble dry or a night on a radiator.....lol re your remarks about that horrid lady having a go at our lovely Kate...I took one look and thought, well I know who I'd rather look like !! I wish!!
@tishpics I asked the school receptionist what was going round and she said there were a few being tested for GF but didn't know of any positives so she was guessing that there's some other nasty sore throat virus doing the rounds. He's got a very sore throat and the lymph nodes in his salivary glands come up so they always look nasty but no fever and he's up and about. He's absolutely forbidden from kissing anybody before A'levels - only 2.5 years!
I love this because it reminds me of a teddy I rescued from the compost heap that belonged to my brother. Teddy was in a bit of a state but I kept him for years. I gave him back to my brother on his 60th birthday and wrote a poem to accompany him in a shoe box. My brother was amazed that I had kept him all those years. I hope he still has him otherwise I would have kept him myself. This is a lovely capture and a Fav
ohhh Judith you do make me laugh got some weird visions of all sorts on your line now lol oh and jasmine and my mums and dads dog poppy love a soft toy they are called flufftys (my dad fault ) just had to well put most of Jasmines in the bin lets just say more fur than fluff lol ...any way i love the shot but even more the diary fav
@ditto44@jgpittenger I think if I was him I may end up with an empty body and a washing machine full of stuffing! Perhaps I'll try him on a gentle cycle!
@judithg Historical novels are not much my thing but I liked this one. It's very well written and I read it because everyone I know was reading it but also because I wanted to know more about that time period in England. Maybe you don't need to...
I agree with you on your no 1. I don't much care for historical novels anyway. I thought Monty's teddy was from the zoo at first glance. He does look a bit bedraggled!
aaah memories . MY sympathies are totally with Monty.
I remember lookig yearningly at the washing line as my beloved woollen Teddy was hung to d=y. No spin dryers , no tumble dryers . It was a 3 day wait.
He's such a cutie! Look at those eyes--doesn't he deserve a rescue? I iron about 5 garments a year and I'd like to reduce that, but I do seem to wash or wipe up a lot of nasty things. I'll wash the puppy if you do a little ironing for me?
I always feel a bit sorry for stuffed toys. Saw a giant teddy at the fabric recycling bins yesterday propped up and looking sad - nearly bought him home. I would pop this in with your white wash and hang him out all lovely and clean. Great shot, wonderful composition.
How on earth is Monty getting to sleep without his teddy?! Such. Cute picture of him. He needs rescuing. Hilary Mantel, deserves all the stick she will get.

I gave up on Wolf Hall. I persevered for a while, but found I wasn't remembering any of it because..... well, I suppose I just wasn't interested.
Our kids are off this week. Sam will only be back at school for four weeks before he finishes for Easter.
ps.... Get that washing machine on!
