I tried to kill two bird with one stone with Monty's walk today by going to see how our school sculpture is getting on. It must be in the workshop and there was nobody about so, undeterred we headed off across the extremely flat fields opposite to do battle with a raw wind and my favourite winter weather - flurries of horizontal snow :0(. To cap off a good morning the grumpy farmer told me off for heading towards a gap in the hedge back on to the road - I appreciate his irritation with hedge damage but to be honest it's already been well and truly done - I wasn't about to make it worse. So we were dispatched in the opposite direction to the one I wanted 'around the piggeries' - the smell of which was sending Monty into a frenzy of excitement so when the farmer headed off back home we went through the 4 foot gap by the gate. So a shot from yesterday - I like to find bikes in conversation. I was going B&W with this but since it's two bike shots in a row I decided to keep the colour. Edited in Camerabag for Mac
Three good things:
1. Long lunch with my entertaining friend Katie (will have work to do later as a result!).
2. Nigel has cajoled the accommodation people in Birmingham into providing some fan heaters until they fix the heating in Rachel's flat (broken for the 3rd time - every time the temp heads towards freezing...).
3. I've bought Mary Berry's 'At Home' recipe book.
The bike with the basket has definately got the upper hand! Love this. I hate getting told off by farmers, it happens to me quite a lot and I always plead ignorance whilst going a deep shade of crimson
Amazing how a reprimand makes you feel a small child again!! Love your gossiping bikes....actually I think the basket one is flirting by the body language of the other!!
They ought to be careful otherwise they'll be the squeak of tiny wheels and tricycles on the way ;o) Glad you kept the colour in, it's nice and subtle xx
This is simply wonderful, Judith. Love the brick wall background...glad you left the color...so rich. Glad I didn't post my cheesy bicycle photo today after seeing this. :) Did you use your nifty fifty prime lens for this shot? Amazing clarity. Have to get one...it's on my birthday list. :)
Love the tones and the crispness and, yes, they are talking to each other. I wonder if you have all of your bike shots gathered in one folder. That would be an interesting file to see.
Are either of these bikes yours I wonder Judith! I took a photo of my bike today but it was all on it's own ...I haven't managed to upload it yet. Rotten bad tempered farmers they have no soul!!!! ( a but tongue in cheek there for obvious reasons !!!) I can well believe some would tell you off though!!!! Sounds like some good baking in the pipe line!!!
@happypat No but sometime I plan to do a series of photos with my bike in front of 'No bikes' signs! Blooming farmers ( :0) ) - this one is famously grumpy - I'm convinced he drove down the path past me just to see if I would go through the gap - he just sat in his car on his mobile, told me off and then drove off again! Harry would be bored to death with that farm - completely flat and some fairly boring veg crops - I don't think the piggery is his. And Monty was on the lead so he didn't run on any of his nasty muddy fields - I have seen very naughty big dogs absolutley rampaging through crops in the summer - that's not on....
@peggysirk Yes I'm addicted to that lens - I've lost a lot of clarity in the processing. Mind you if you done step back a fair way everything is blurred! looking forward to your bike shots!
I wonder if I might have walked past these bikes today. there was a very pleasant street musician playing near the cat in the hat statue - a sort of gentle steel drum. I took a picture but didn't post in the end.
Love Mary Berry too. The recent programme about her life was great. Reckon she is a bit of a girl on the quiet.
