Criminal?

The Chelsea Flower Show has lifted its ban on garden gnomes for one year only. Lots of celebrities have decorated gnomes which will be sold for charity and it's sparked a discussion of the noble German history of the gnome! So I thought I'd wander over to the Dept of Criminology in Cambridge because I happen to know that they have their own gnome in their rather trendy modern garden. I may have managed a funky composition if Monty hadn't been alternately barking and drinking the ornamental pond. I was hoping for a rather subtler approach...
3GT's
1. I didn't forget the Govs' meeting.
2. Texted Rachel a few times.
3. Adam's head didn't explode during his enormous exam day.
Hi Judith, I havent been doing this for so long - mainly computer being very difficult but also being a bit in need of a break from it. I think I'll start again though. Will look through your photos to see what youve been up to!

I have not been a fan of gnomes but this one has a rather happy & cute face...looking very surprised to be sitting in the garden belonging to the Department of Criminology!! One more exam behind you all!!!

@lauralatham Ooh hello - I was just wondering how you were doing this afternoon as I walked past Clare's DNA statue. We should have a proper Cambridge gathering - there's quite a crowd of us now.

@happypat 4 more down now - hurrah!! and 12 days before the next batch so a bit of wind down time for us all.
May 21st, 2013
@judithg that's a great idea, would be up for that!
May 21st, 2013
@lauralatham I'll catch my breath mid-GCSE and put a shout out to the locals for coffee somewhere (can't be bothered with the photo bit!)
May 21st, 2013
Haha! Love it! Bad boy Monty!
May 21st, 2013
@judithg we're mid AS at the moment!

He looks a suitably inquisitive gnome for his location! I find it quite bizarre to lift the gnome ban for just one year. One of our elderly neighbours had lots of gnomes in his front garden but they have all gnone somewhere..................
May 21st, 2013
@quietpurplehaze LOL! I think a well placed gnome is perfectly acceptable!

@judithg

He used to have train station signs too!

I remember that little chap and I miss him ;). Say hello to him from me! Well done, Adam :).
May 21st, 2013
Let me out of here before next year! Glad Adam's head didn't eplode

Quirky. Honestly what are you like you parents. You don't have to set, sit or mark any exams. Just relax while the rest of us suffer!

Explode
May 21st, 2013
@lauralatham Maybe we should go for something stronger!
May 21st, 2013
@fueast Yes - the exam van will be delivering papers up and down the road for marking - bless 'em all!!!
May 21st, 2013
@judithg mine came in superdrug carrier bags.
May 21st, 2013
This gnome reminds me of a volunteer who comes into work. He looks just like a gnome and I could just imagine him sitting here with this one! Gave me a little giggle thinking about it! Great shot
May 21st, 2013
@fueast That's red brick for you...
May 21st, 2013
Very strong bags actually. The waitrose ones broke under the strain.
May 21st, 2013
reminds me of that cruel Ikea advert on the tv at the moment .... we've never had any 'howcroft garden gnomes'
May 21st, 2013
Funny! Someone once got a gnome stolen and it then sent a postcard from every destination he visited to his owners. Talk about rubbing salt in the wound!
May 21st, 2013
@fueast oh my, have you tried living with a super stressed hormonal teenager that despite hours of revision doesn't know ANYTHING and is going to get a U in EVERYTHING? Honestly think I'd rather mark them!
May 21st, 2013
@lauralatham hmm no thanks! I take your point...
May 21st, 2013
@lauralatham Ok we definitely need stronger...!!
May 21st, 2013
So glad to hear Adams head is OK, Love your little gnome
May 21st, 2013

May 21st, 2013
loved reading the comments, very funny, and what a cheeky gnome.
May 21st, 2013
That's a familiar face -- Is it Doc? Several (no more than several) years ago I was in Cambridge for a Children's literature conference and while exploring side streets I came upon a little cottage with a yard absolutely bursting with gnomes of all shapes and sizes. I have a picture somewhere.
May 21st, 2013
I think it is very cute.
May 21st, 2013
I have very few ornaments in my garden. For some reason, if I put anything there it looks cheap and trashy, but when others do it, it is chic and trendy.
May 21st, 2013
Good fun capture. My husbands uncle gave my son a gnome when he was a little boy. We still have it, albeit hidden behind pots.
