Well as my friend's not very optimistic mum is won't to say, 'Goodbye summer!" Hopefully it will return at some point ;0). A very wet day but for some reason (I think because the wind has finally dropped) not actually all that unpleasant. And I had lots of indoor admin to do and it's much more conducive to revision so it could be worse. Mind you I wet all three lenses trying to get a shot I liked - in the end plumping for this rather lovely acer inherited from mum and dad's house move.
I went over to visit my friend Linda in Cambourne this afternoon and encountered an accident on the A428 that could also have been an awful lot worse. A sort of small open-backed van upside down over the central barrier and a horsebox on its side. Four cars had stopped to help and the men had somehow climbed out through the rather crushed windows and, looking rather shaken but with an impressive level of calm, were donning hi-vis jackets so I decided that I would have nothing to add apart from getting in the way. Later on in our walk we spotted the ambulance parked up waiting for the next 'shout' and I asked the driver about the horse which was looking pretty stuck when I passed. She said, 'Not horse, cows'. Apparently it had been carrying three cows with their calves and one had got stuck on her side so she couldn't get up. They had taken her calf out so she was pretty distressed but in the end all 8 passengers were released safe and uninjured which I would say is a minor miracle. She said the weight of the cattle had started the trailer wobbling - and once that starts momentum takes over...
Three good things:
1. Lucky escapes.
2. Whiskey - I imagine this evening those two men will be needing a large one.
3. Modern technology - roll bars, airbags, mobile phones...
First that raindrop on your acer leaf is just so clear & beautifully ready for the drop!! well timed Judith!
Awful to see that accident & those poor cows who aren't used to being driven around the roads so must have been terrified! Yes bad weather is more conducive for studying which is always a good thing at this late stage!!!
Glad that all's well that ends well. It must be pretty terrifying for horses or cows to be transported on the roads. Delicate shot with one raindrop! My grandmother used to have a saying 'Had the best of the day!'
Haha @sleepdozer57 ! Your flipping remark goes well! I hope these guys know how to drive with a trailer full of stock! I was behind a horse trailer once and the horse was kicking and prancing around inside! The girl had to stop and try and calm the horse down! Eventually I saw her ringing someone up! Safe decision!
t'was a majorly murky day. though night had come early mid afternoon! not sure how much more rubbish weather we can endure! Accident sounds a nightmare but glad to hear everything survived unscathed
Looks suspiciously like cannabis to me. It's wonderfully amazing when an accident scene looks worse than it is. I am still astounded by the few deaths in Oklahoma form the tornado last week - when whole neighborhoods were flattened.
The greens and purple pink icolours are lovely... Scary road accident... We on our hols in spain , so no posting, but i can comment cos of hotel wifi ... Talking of scary... We almost got stuck on clifftops this morning... Lost the path and ended up scrambling up the steep sides, not daring to look back over steep edges... I got shouted at by jane
