I nipped into the bank in town today (by car - really NOT cycling weather) and wandered in to Christ's College with my camera. Charles Darwin is much in evidence here - there is a whole garden dedicated to him with a statue of him as a young man and a more classic portrait right by the entrance.
Absolutely hideous weather but not as bad as the poor South West - I dropped some chocolates off from Monty for the students at the Vet School and nearly lost the car door followed by the door to the reception - I was just saying, 'It's wild ...out...there...' as the wind snatched it and slammed it shut!
Three GT:
1. No dog walking in this weather - hoping by the time we re-start spring will have sprung.
2. Two eggs from the hens - first egg from Betty in weeks.
3. Home made pizza night.
I love how you know which egg belongs to which hen. Ours are utterly rubbish at the moment, but I think that the crows are still going into their house to steal the eggs. Just trying to steel myself to go out an feed and lock up the animals, but it's blowing a hoolie.
Hooray for Betty......coming up trumps...the longer days will encourage the little darlings!! We are getting between 3 & 5 a day at the moment but Cathy's aren't laying at all.
Generous Monty!
Weather Ok today by that IO mean cold & dampish but not much wind.
@judithg Yeah - I don't like to rub it in, but there's something so nice about a holiday out of season - especially when you used to work in education!
Yep, we've had rain, rain and more rain today and the wind has been very strong. My poor eldest son. He chefs in a nearby pub who were interviewed on the news the other day. He usually rides his motorbike to work but I refused to allow him to today. I was going to drive him, he was going to stay over (split shift) and I was going to pick him up again this evening. We were just about to leave when he received a call from them telling him not to bother. All roads there are now completely flooded, even the long way round. It's a big worry as he doesn't get paid if he doesn't go in. Just hoping for some better weather as the water levels continue to rise xx
cool framing @psychographer I wondered how you were getting on - apparently my Dorset based parents have been flooded in on and off since the beginning of the year
@shannejw I've heard Dorset are having it bad. Our problems are mainly due to no dredging of the River Parrett for years. If they'd continued to spend the money to do that and maintained it the water would be able to flow xx
These are lovely natural colours and textures in the old stone! So nice to see knowing the history of these old buildings not to mention Darwin. I've read a lot about his history here!
Great composition and angle of the bike. I know what you mean re the wind...had a sot at the beach planned but the wind so bitter I decided to stay home with the fire!
Love the image Judith, the oval shape suits it very well. I wonder how it feels to be taking shots Monty-less? Guilty pleasure I expect! My egg production is low at the moment too, Mother Hen has completely stopped and the others are unpredictable. Come on spring!
Here goes...........
