As I shared last month, I loved my work visit to Tokyo, especially the Sunday at Harajuku. I had almost a week in Japan for work in Feb 2005 and loved it. Wonderful place to visit. Every Sunday young people dressed in a variety of styles, many straight out of manga and anime including gothic lolita, visual key and punk cosplay gather on Jingu Bridge and are happy to pose for photographers. Unfortunately I was too shy to ask them. Didn't stop me from taking advantage of other people getting them to pose, but now I look back on it I wish I had moved around next to the bolder photographer to get them looking down the lens.
All of these people would be the conservatively dressed business people and students during the week and cutting loose on the weekend.
I had meant to share a few more shots last month, I guess I just get distracted by other shots from other places. I probably should make a bit of a plan on which places I will share when, so I don't jump from Prague one day to Tokyo the next, but I get so excited revisiting my travels and the photo I share on a particular day is influenced by my mood .... and which shot appeals to me most on the day.

Cool and bizarre at the same time. I really like how they all look to one side instead of straight into the camera. Its great that the follow their passion!
Too much fun, compensation for being so restrained most of the time. I have followed some anime and come across photos of Cosplayers at local conventions, many could fit right in here. Great shot, I kind of like the photo and place of the day method it seems more visceral.
Great shot! Sounds like a lot of fun to dress up at the weekend with friends - I might have to try it (though I doubt I'd have anything to wear as interesting as their outfits!) :)
