I was happy to see this monarch butterfly today. The monarch has become an endangered species, so any sighting of this beauty is good news. At this time of year, monarchs will soon be migrating south to Mexico, where they will hibernate over the winter.

I've always been partial to buddleias - because of their prolonged summer blooming, stretching into autumn, and, of course, its magnet-like effect on butterflies.
