Best Laid Plans

Inspired by the person who had put peanut butter on a tree trunk to feed the birds yesterday, I decided to give it a try today. The best laid plans...the squirrels got there so fast that the birds didn't have a chance. Well, squirrels need to eat too I guess -:)
Wow cool pic. I didn’t even know black squirrels existed. Every days a school day :)

@kitkat365 Hi Cathy. Yes, we have *a lot* of black squirrels in Toronto. (We also have grey squirrels, but my feeling is that black squirrels are dominant.)

Wow, I’m definitely going to try that. Sadly no lovely black squirrels here though.

Lovely to see the squirrel enjoying your treat. Perhaps you could hang a jar sideways on string from a branch with just a small amount for the birds.

@wendyfrost That's a great idea, Wendy! Thank you for the suggestion. I'll see what I can do.

Not surprising that the Squirrels are there - I was having trouble with squirrels taking over the bird feeders till I bought squirrel proof feeders - But your idea of peanut butter on the tree trunk is so visibly attractive to feed and wasch the birds ( in this case a squirrel !!! )

When I saw your other post I thought that, if I put peanut butter on one of my trees, the squirrels would be there so fast, but didn’t want to seem to be negative if it was working for them. Wonder how come the birds got a chance on that other tree.

It’s so black, at first I thought it was an interesting shadow. But clearly a peanut butter loving squirrel.

Squirrels are so quick! They get too greedy though and the birds lose out! Great idea with the peanut butter though. I like it...fav.
