Encased in ice

It's February. It's Nebraska. Flowers? Well, here are what is left of last year's lilacs. It was warm enough to melt, and cold enough to freeze, leaving behind a winter reminder that it is not yet time for new leaves, flower buds, or the soft scent of lilacs.
