My get-pushed challenge this week was to try some minimalist images. I struggle with the aspect of negative space. In reading about the elements of minimalist photography it says to focus on one small key element and leave the rest clutter free. I used a shallow depth of focus with this macro hoping to create a clutter free, though textured, background, while focusing on the leaf. Minimalist photography...a work in progress.
@northy Trying my hand at minimalist photography with the macro lens. I am hoping I will soon get a better understanding of "clutter free" and "negative space".
It's definitely hard to do minimalist well. I think this works, and macro is probably a great way to go about improving in this area since the DoF is so shallow. This is something I need to work on as well. As they say "Painters add to a blank canvas; photographers subtract."
lovely low pov and dof... i'm trying to think of the ingredients i would use for minimalism, and i guess my first thought, is a solid canvass... macro really is great for minimalism because of that lovely shallow dof :)
