Still trying to get a handle on my get-pushed challenge this week. I tried all day for a minimalist image, but negative space confounds me. Decided the constraint of darkness could impose what I can not seem to compose. So, another go at low-key and minimalist. White hair works great for this and it does hides the wrinkles! ... Oh ... looks a tad more interesting on black, but not much ... just a tad ...
Thanks for your challenge - sorry I replied earlier but didn't have time to sort out your challenge for this week so here I am now.
You have really good work and love the photos of the grand children and as a cat person love the cat shots as well. You have some good ideas for abstracts as well so i have my work cut out this week!
Anyway, having thought about it my challenge to you is to take a close up photo of a complete stranger, that can be with our without their consent - I suppose its a kind of street photography challenge but I will leave it up to you as to who, how and where you take the shot. If you can get a story out of the shot that is a bonus point :) - Remember to have fun and a stranger is just a friend you have not yet met !
@scarybird I spent last night reading Thomas Leuthard's "Going Candid" after seeing the link in your project. I will read through his "Street Faces" today. I truly admire photographers who are able to photograph strangers. I won't have a lot of opportunity to try this, but I generally get to town one day each week and I will see what I can do.
April thanks for looking up the link to Thomas Luthard in my project. I could not tell from your Bio if you were based in a town or not so if you find that you don't get the opportunity to find a stranger then take a shot of someone you know but who you would not normally take a photo of say a neighbour.
I will be honest when I started this 365 journey back in January I didn't even know what street photography was (even though it turned out I had kind of been doing it without knowing!) I certainly had never heard of Luthard until there was a challenge here on 365 to take photos in his style, I have since come across other artist such as Zack Arias and Bruce Gilden (although he is a bit too much in your face for me - literally !) and of course Vivian Maier. If you are interested there are great YouTube clips of Luthard, Arias and Gilden working. Also I would suggest having a look at the DigitalRev blogs who have some great challenges with these guys.
Have started your challenge and will upload something shortly.
