My sympathies for the loss of your faithful companion Oz. What a poignant image, your feet without him near them. My heart goes out to you and your family.
Oh, April - I'm so dreadfully sorry for you... I know exactly how you will be feeling right now. I remember well the earlier photo - indeed I commented on it at the time. Try to remember the good times you had with him...
Oh no. I'm so sorry, and even I don't know you, there is a tear in my eye. What a sad photo. I hope the good and the beautiful memories give you the strength, to deal with the loss.
@aecasey April, I just want you to know that this picture, its title and commentary have been thought of hundreds of times since seeing it in January. I knew even then that my dog Heather was showing signs of aging and that someday, sooner than I wanted, there would be this same emptiness around my feet because of her passing. I took an iPhone picture of her on the last morning as she stood next to me in the kitchen on her wobbly back legs, and then another this morning in the same place, her spot by the stove empty, and all the while I was thinking of your picture and title here. I bet you still miss Oz. I know a year from now I'll still be missing Heather.
@lyndemc Thank you ... when I read about Heather it immediately brought Oz back to mind. Even now when I come across a heeler it brings tears to my eyes. He was a dedicated and loyal companion and I didn't have any idea how much I'd miss him until he was gone.
