There are still a few photos I haven't edited and posted from the Rocky Mountain Outdoor Writers and Photographers Workshop, and, as I'm a bit behind, I thought I'd get one done today. This was taken during an evening outing. While everyone else had their cameras turned toward the aspen grove glowing in the setting sun, I was watching this tree with the flicker nest. There were three holes, though, and I didn't know which one held the nest. Not only that, this isn't the right hole! It took her a long time to decide it was safe to come in despite all the people on the road, and when she did she stopped at this middle hole first, then flew up to the top hole. This is severely cropped. I did get a few of her in and out of the top hole, but she was moving fast and this is my best focused shot.
