Dora

My challenge this week from Ellie was to try a portrait using the sandwich bag technique. I've tried this before and had trouble with the obviousness of the edges of the bag. For this one I used my 50mm and kept the bag opened pretty wide. I do like the blur it creates around the edges, though I wish I would have had more background, as it's difficult to see the softness on Dora's fur.
Ellie @ellieburgin Here is my first attempt. I used the bag on my 50mm. Wish I'd been a bit further back and had more background, but Dora didn't stay put very long.

What is the sandwich bag technique?

@jgpittenger You take a sandwich bag, cut the bottom out, and rubber band it onto your lens. The bag acts as a filter and creates a blur. Here is an example and a tutorial: http://gizmodo.com/5993195/10-amazing-photos-taken-through-a-sandwich-bag http://petapixel.com/2013/03/26/shoot-hazy-and-ethereal-photos-using-a-sandwich-bag-and-colored-markers/
