Susan challenged me to do a black and white landscape this week. This is the view of the buttes from my parents' home. Saddle Rock sits in the middle, with Giant's Coffin off to the left. Lover's Leap is just out of the frame to the right. Edited in Lightroom and Silver Efex.
Susan @susanharvey Here's my black and white landscape. It's been a smokey, hazy week, but a cold front moved in pushing out the smoke. Lots of clouds, but I managed to get a bit of a break and some sunlight on the buttes.
@aecasey It's beautiful April. I agree with Kas about the ruggedness and the smooth contrasts. The scenery lends itself well to black and white. On a side note, towards the bottom left corner, I see a triangular piece. Is that a church steeple?
@susanharvey Thank you. What you are seeing is a church steeple. My parents live atop a hill. Most of the town lies in a river valley, so I was shooting across town. I tried to get roofs and such cropped out, but that steeple was just too tall. If you look really close you can make out the white cross on the top.
