Morel, by chance? I don't really see very many mushrooms, so when I saw this funny looking one I had to get down for a photo. Out of curiosity I googled Nebraska mushrooms, and this looks very much like it's a morel, quite edible and highly sought after. Now I want to go back and see if there are others there, though I have no intention of gathering any. It's just fun to have discovered something I didn't know grew in our ecosystem.
nicely spotted - I suspect morel, and after much mushroom hunting I've never seen them (my best local hunting ground is stripped by foragers selling to the London restaurants)
