It's spring on the prairie, and the bucks are feeling their oats. The battle of the bucks usually starts with a chase, and on the way to town this morning youngest spotted a buck racing toward the highway and warned me. Sure enough, he leaped over the fence, charged across the highway with no pause and without looking, jumped the next fence where he continued the chase with another buck. They will chase each other until they can't run anymore! We left them to their chase.
On the way home these two were having a shoving match. I think they were pretty tired, as they would pause every now and then before they reengaged, but they were determined. What was the fuss about? Well, there was a pretty little doe sweetly ignoring the bucks. When she got nervous with our presence and decided to leave, they both tiredly broke off the shoving match and followed with all three disappearing over the hill.
