The Merlin app says we have Orchard, Bullock's, and Baltimore orioles this year. I have seen the Orchard orioles (juveniles), and I did see the Bullock's arrive. The app insisted there was a Baltimore Oriole in the yard. We could hear it, but spent several days trying to see it. This evening Merlin led me to the honeysuckle tree, and I finally got a shot. But it's a Bullock's oriole! I've listened. Baltimore and Bullock's sound a lot alike. Merlin continues to insist there is a Baltimore Oriole here. So far, I haven't seen it. It was great, though, to see the Bullock's oriole. We seem to have a greater variety of birds staying this spring, not just our usual prairie birds and larger songbirds. Lots of birdsong, and I've been able to verify most of Merlin's id's with visual ids. It's a beautiful spring.
