Distressed Squirrel

I carved this squirrel when I was in high school, using woodworking tools my mother had. It looked pretty good til my parents got a puppy when I was away at college. The holes at the top mark where Henry Beagle gave it a few good chews with his sharp puppy teeth, and you can see where he somehow broke off the squirrel's paw. I was really angry at the time but now when I look at it, this piece of wood is even more special.
Yeah, I can see where it would have been quite upsetting, but it does have a character all of its own, and it holds great sentimental value to you.

What a wonderful memento from your younger days. Impressive that you craved this yourself -- I guess that the puppy marks add character but I can understand why you were upset at the time.

This story is the best part! Ahhh...and I had the same crafting period...but my wood carving results weren't as nice! Puppy teeth might have helped my projects.

I always chuckle to myself when I seem to ferret out a certain special (to me) picture...and here I didn't miss your darling squirrel! Funny how what was a calamity on one day is an endearing element at a later date! I can see how this came to be more special to you over time! FYI...FA traveled to Venice in my pocket today but, amidst rain and snow, I took few pictures and failed to get the photo I'd hoped for. Just know I was thinking of you! (Even in foul weather, what a magnificent city!)
