Father's Day is quiet when your kids are grown and gone. John was happy to get calls from both kids and a Skype call with our almost 5 year old grand daughter. With the excitement of reading all the comments generated by yesterday's Flat Allie picture, I didn't give much thought to the posting for today. So I'll share this picture we have hanging on our bedroom wall, a portrait I rescued from my childhood home after my father died. It was difficult to photograph because of the inevitable reflection caused by the glass and the black matting. I ended up moving it to the hall where no window glare would intrude.
I'm thinking of you Dad. Happy Father's Day.
Oh - really sweet. Wish I'd thought to do that with a great photo I have of my dad as a kid. Also, it's interesting to me to see how people photograph other photographs and paintings (things in frames) which I want to do some times. Did on 6/8 of a painting I made. Nicely done and a nice tribute.
You won't believe the connection I feel with this photo and what you wrote! I, too, have a photo from around 1916 of my 3 y-o dad in his little sailor suit...and I had the same trouble photographing it for similar reasons. Also today, Ken got his two phone calls and a Skype call with Ashton. We got the promise of some together time with them all in a few more days...it'll be worth the wait!
I love your tribute and photo of your Dad when he was a young boy..the earliest picture I have of my dad is a family photo with my grandparents, aunt and uncle my mom and me on her lap and my older sister standing next to me.
Very nice picture and lovely tribute. immediately reminds me of a picture I have of my father wearing the same kind of shirt and in the oval framing but taken in another continent ( Europe).
Love the hair! I've got one of my dad with his hair long and in curls. Funny how some things fade with time for good reasons! A nice memory for you though.
