Native American Architecture

Here in the library we are currently displaying a number of models of Native American houses constructed by First Graders. My colleague worked with the classroom teacher in planning this unit. The digital picture frame contains a slide show of the students as they constructed examples from the different regions. The photo shown is of a tipi, and the model depicted is a Southwestern pueblo. More and more schools are turning toward "Project-Based Learning" to help students think both critically and creatively.

I think that would offer such a great new sense to learning, hands on, a neat idea.

I always liked to blend projects with my lessons- it really made the Bible come to life for my students. The first graders did a great job!
