Grab your coat and get your hat
Leave your worries on the doorstep
Life can be so sweet
On the sunny side of the street
...
I used to walk in the shade with my blues on parade
But I'm not afraid...this rover's crossed over
I've included some of the lyrics to an old standard by Jimmy McHugh and Dorothy Fields. The words came to mind when I saw what a difference a few hours of direct sunshine made in melting Thursday night's snow. These are opposite sides of the drive way in my condo. I am happy that we live on the sunny side of the street. It definitely improves your attitude.
There we can see what a difference the sun can make. I prefer the sunny side of the street. when the sun shines I'm more alive and ready to start the day. remember that song.
I live on the shady side of our street -- how I envy the folks on the sunny side. The snow never melts in the shadow cast by my house which stretches all the way to the curb in the winter. But across the way? Your photos tell the story.
Lovely contrast well displayed. Oh my, that song brings back memories of my childhood. I used to sing this all the time & I always thought "across the street" was sunnier and my mom wouldn't let me cross b/c I was too little.
@catwoman2 Mary and Allison...I guess when you live in cold climates, that is something one ahold look into when buying a house. I never think about things like that, but if I ever move up north, which is probably not going to happen, I will know to thnk about that! We are on the shady side of the culdesac....but we do not get much snow....
