Over 550 species of birds can be found in Tanzania. Here are just a few of the many varieties. Of course we were thrilled to see so many ostriches but I also was excited to see the crowned cranes in the lower middle since I share an African folk tale with Second Graders about this beautiful bird. Vultures are an important part of the ecosystem. Below the vulture is an Egyptian Goose. Our guide was very excited to see the tawny eagle. He also identified the bird on the lower left, which I forgot, but I did some research and identified it as a Southern Ground Hornbill.
