Our students in grades 1-4 all read a modern childhood classic this summer, “Because of Winn-Dixie” set in Florida, about a girl and the stray dog that becomes her pet. The boys and girls were invited to send to school a picture of themselves reading with a dog —either a pet or stuffed animal. Here is the result of that request, with many kids sending in a wonderful batch of reading buddy photos. From the expressions on everyone’s faces, you can see for yourself, “Summer Reading IS fun.”
