Painted on the side of a local natural foods store. It was fun to watch this painting come to life. Can't decide if it reminds me of the old Soviet naturalist art or the great muralists of Mexico. Anyway it's fun to study it when caught at the light at the corner of Ellwood and Thompson (hence the name).
My daughter just emailed me from Boston to say she knew the artist, Ed Trask, when she went to college in Richmond. She also supplied a link she found that that contains an interview with the artist: http://www.giantrobot.com/transmissions/31edtrask/index.html
Love this building mural.
Fascinates me how this art is painted outside for all to see and probably most people past by without really "seeing" it.
I hope someone else took a closer look today when they saw you with your camera pointed toward the mural.
ahh!! You keep getting closer and closer to my headquarters!! I am probably suspect número uno when it comes to not appreciating this. I drive by it no less than once a day, but I will admit that all I could honestly account for is that there is a mural on the building. In my defense, I'm often distracted by the liquor store to the right.
