I stopped off in a kindergarten classroom to deliver some books and saw these students using iPads to practice their spelling. This is an app called Montessori Crosswords, and it has gotten rave reviews from parents, teachers and kids. I know some people don't like young children learning in isolation using computers. but as part of a rich curriculum, technology can play an important role in engaging all the senses in learning.
BTW, notice everyone is in red for the holiday.
Wow, what great color! Interesting to see technology used like this - I'm still on the fence about it myself. But I've seen how much my daughter loves computers - just seems a bit odd to see everyone so plugged in!
I love seeing technology used more and more in classes. In a time that is heavily influenced by technology, it makes sense to use it more to help students learn. I'll have to tell my mom about the app - she has about 30 iPads in her library that are used by the primary school students. Love this shot.
This is very cute- I like the idea of them being part of a rich curriculum. There is certainly a necessity in being computer savvy. And this seems like a good way to use them. I don't like it when computers take time away from using the imagination and learning how to work together to solve problems. But this seems to be well balanced in many ways. Love the red!
I love how kids can so intuitively grasp the concepts of any new technology. Very good to see that it reaches schools as well. We have some way to go here in the Netherlands seeing this.
