Every year on Parents Night the library offers all their newly purchased and processed books for sale to the families of students. When I say "for sale" I mean the parents choose a book which is then dedicated to their child with a special bookplate to mark the event. This year out of a total of 588 new books available, parents donated 512, for a total amount of $9,200. This enables the library to purchase even more books throughout the year and helps to explain how we have a collection of 30,000 volumes in a K-4 library. Here you see a class of kindergartners holding up the books their families donated. Each gets to be the first to check out and take home the special book with their name in the front. And in case you wondered, even the books not "bought" by families are purchased and added to our collection.
