Family History

This box of old letters arrived in the mail the other day from my oldest friend. (We have known each other since 3rd grade, but I'm not telling you what decade that was.) In the accompanying note she explains that these are letters I had written to her between 1987 and 2003 and she thought I might want to keep them to pass on to my children. I was astonished to see these documents again! Never in a million years could I have imagined that they had been preserved-- and in chronological order! I did pull out a few and saw my life flash before my eyes. Tales of my children growing up, of family trips and my work. I was actually surprised at how long, newsy, and legible these letters were. And how many I had written over the years. I guess by 2003 we were using e-mail predominately, and those messages, I'm sure, are gone forever. After I read through these I will offer them to my kids but they might not want to see life from their mother's perspective!
Awesome!!

How wonderful of your friend to do that and love the set-up for your photo of the day. I still have many old letters from friends back then. My best friend passed away 3 yrs ago after battling cancer for 10 yrs. I sent her some letters once and she sent them back saying her husband was very jealous and she didn't want him to see them with all the news of her past boyfriends, etc. Can you imagine. Anyway, I think you two have a very special friendship....this is just so awesome.
