I enjoyed a special “members only” visit to this exhibition on Friday before the collection of paintings and photographs opened to the general public on Saturday. Natural Bridge in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia was once owned by Thomas Jefferson, who did all he could to promote it as a symbol of the spirit of America. He was a great PR man and it became as famous as the other great natural wonder of America, Niagara Falls.
To find out about the history and symbolism of this natural treasure, check out this overview from the museum website: https://www.vmfa.museum/exhibitions/exhibitions/virginia-arcadia-natural-bridge-american-art/
The show will be on display for free til August 1.
@earthbeone@phil_howcroft They are, with the usual precautions of 6 feet apart, wearing masks etc. I went to a special reserved tickets only session and wore double masks.
