This was my family’s home in Redding, CT from 1953 til my father’s death in 1995. The house dates back to the early 19th century, but here you see Mary and Maggie Flood, school teachers who lived there with their brother Michael, a black smith. I just learned on the town FB page that he got lost in the big blizzard of 1888 but fortunately was located and rescued by a neighbor. This photo was shared with me by one of the town historians. The house looked somewhat similar (although our paint was in better shape.) when we lived there, but the front porch had been removed. The side porch, however remained. In fact after our wedding reception in 1969, which was held in the back yard, I tossed my bridal bouquet from that little porch to the guests below!
