In many Protestant denominations, the Sunday after Reformation Sunday (which commemorates Martin Luther hammering his 95 theses to the church door) is called All Saints Sunday in honor of All Saints’ Day, a Christian feast day which falls on November 1. This is a day to celebrate the martyrs of the church but also to honor those who have died during the last year. When we sang the stirring hymn, “For All the Saints,” my thoughts turned to my brother who died on November 1 of last year. Rest in peace, Randy.
