I Spy Something Cardboard

I think that the neighbors are on to me...what do you think?

I had this idea for the mundane cardboard challenge to do a selfie that combined some of my favorite movies: Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window and the recent funky, fun, artsy, flick, Moonrise Kingdom.

After I took this shot, I could not for the life of me, remove the camera from the tripod. I got the legs off, but the screw on part is stuck tight. I tried using a jar opener and it spins but doesn't make any progress to come off. Dadgumit! It seems like photography is so full of challenges for me. As soon as I figure some problem or issue out, there is something new. Hope that the camera isn't screwed up if/when I can finally get the flippin' thing off of it.
That's an excellent pic for a mundane cardboard challenge!

Great idea considering your challenge involved cardboard! Hope you get the camera sorted out alright too!
February 22nd, 2013
Oh, you! ... :-D

When you do get your camera off the tripod, try a little drop of baby oil on the thread - it makes all the difference.
February 22nd, 2013
Creative concept great image love the blinds and the improvised binocs : love it. Drop of oil usually works !
February 22nd, 2013
Haha, lovely!
February 22nd, 2013
Hahaha, cool shot.
February 22nd, 2013
Total FAV.
If the jar opener doesn't work then how about a little WD40 on a q-tip that you just wipe gently on the stuck part?
February 22nd, 2013
Oh, it took me a mo, I couldn't spot the cardboard! So well done and great idea. Hope the camera comes off the tripod :-(
February 22nd, 2013
Very fun shot, i instantly thought of Rear Window! Very carefully apply a bit of WD-40 and the camera will come right off the tripod.
February 22nd, 2013
Nice lateral thinking. Thanks for sharing the creative process pertaining to this image
February 22nd, 2013
lol
February 22nd, 2013
@tbats22 I had one that was a better shot, but it showed a stain on my hoodie and this bulging forehead vein thing that I get sometimes (that is oh so attractive). Ah well... Thanks for the lol:)!

@darrenboyj Thanks, Darren. My hubby saved the camera and tripod tonight. Shew!

@automaticslim I will have to do that. Thanks, Andy. Hubby came home and fixed it all for me: Thank goodness. I was pretty sick about it thinking I would be tripodless!

@paul2782 Thanks so much, Paul. Good to know. I guess that I was a little too careful screwing it on there good and tight.

@paulien Thank you, sweet lady!

@noragentian Thank you, Ruth!:)

@happysnap Aw, thanks, Linda. My hero hubby came home and fixed it right up for me. Thank goodness!

@soboy5 Yeah, glad that I got that across. I watched it a bunch as a kid. I loved Jimmy Stewart...and he was a photographer...how cool is he?!;-)

February 23rd, 2013
@gphelps5 Ha, thanks Bulldog! And thanks to you, I've craving apples today;).

@archaeofrog Thanks so much, my friend. I thought of it the other day when throwing one away...Aha...have I got a use for that!:)

@tonydebont I had a better more of a selfie version except I looked bad in it...stained shirt and bulging forehead vein. I went with the almost version instead. Thanks, Tony!

@darylo Aw, thanks so much, Daryl. Really appreciate your comments and visit!:)

@bpaquette Nope, I haven't tried that. We use toot in our house rather than fart. Funny picture, Barbara.:)

@masosy Your comments made my day, my friend. If I could fave them, I would. Thank you!

@psychographer Aw, you are kind, Miss Lisa. Thank you!:)

@kwind Thankfully, I am married to a very capable engineer who fixed it right up when he got home. Thank goodness...I was worried I would have no tripod or ability to use one again with this camera. How would I do selfies?!

@helixconcepts Yeah, I really screwed that sucker on good. Sheesh. thanks, Laura!:)

@bristolrose Thanks, Kathryn. I hope to put it to good use again someday!

@dmdfday Thanks so much, Diane!:)
February 23rd, 2013
that is so cute!
February 23rd, 2013
Such a cute, creative shot! Rear Window is one of my favs, too! Haven't seen Moonrise Kingdom, but will have to now. Good luck with the tripod. Stuff like that always happens to me, too!
February 23rd, 2013
Lovely shot!
February 23rd, 2013
I've enjoyed reading all of the comments here. Great shot, creative use of cardboard, and glad your hubby saved the day ;^)
February 23rd, 2013
Yes - very Hitchcockian.
February 23rd, 2013
Funny shot! Please try not to get some potty disease on your photographic eye.
February 23rd, 2013
A Peeping Tomina? Are you familiar with Murphy's Law? "If anything can go wrong, it will"
February 24th, 2013
Cool shot! Love the cardboard binoculars!
February 24th, 2013
very cool idea for the mundane challenge! hope you got your tripod thingy figured out... sounds frustrating!
February 24th, 2013
@vickisfotos Thanks, sweet lady!

@pflaume Shew, my hubby fixed it for me. Let me know what you think of Moonrise Kingdom...so fun and funky! Thanks, Lisa!!

@simon0128 Thank you, Simon. I love doing occasional fun/funny selfies. Trying ot master the selfie this year!:)

@squamloon Oh me, too. Thanks so much for your comments!

@dapinsker Wasn't he the master! Loved Hitchcock. Thanks, Marc...glad I pulled off what I was going for:).

@cromwell I do have some weird thing going on with my eye now. Damnit!! I've got dry eye (maybe it's the winter climate that I am not used to). I can't wear my contacts anymore lately. How sick, though...could you imagine getting an eye potty disease?!

@skipt07 True, true....my hubby came in and saved the day, though. Love that phrase...a peeping tomina:)! Thanks, Skip!

@tskipper Thank you, Tami. I thought that it was a good idea for the cardboard challenge. Just one of the many fun uses for used tp rolls.;).

@northy It was so annoying. I keep getting issues with my camera...like I dropped it last weekend on the tile. Yikes. Hubby came home and fixed it with pliers. Wish I had thought of that...I was just scared to make it worse. Thanks, Northy!
February 24th, 2013
Funny! I hope you figured it out!
February 24th, 2013
still laughing with this! I do hope you got your camera unstuck!
February 24th, 2013
@nana2r My wonderful hubby did when he got home. Shew. Thanks, Carren!

@frida Oh so glad that I did...my husband is an engineer and he fixed it easily. Glad to share a laugh with you:)! Thanks!
February 24th, 2013
Well, it looks like you made good use of the camera being stuck on the tripod. There's something I love about photos with blinds in them. I have several in the first year of my project.
February 25th, 2013
Oh, yes, almost forgot - the cardboard binos! Clever.
February 25th, 2013
@barbsmith Thanks so much, Barb. I stuck it on the tripod when taking this shot. I guess that I was too careful trying to get it on there tight. And perhaps I got my lefty loosy mixed up with righty tighty when trying to get it off. Who know...luckily my hero hubby fixed it easily with pliers when he got home. Shew. I thought that both camera and tripod could be messed up for good. Thanks for your kind comments:)!
February 25th, 2013
Haha, this cracks me up. I love it!
February 25th, 2013
To clarify- I love the PICTURE, not what happened to your camera. That's not cool at all. Hope you were able to get it fixed.
February 25th, 2013
@istacy1011 You are so mean that you like that my tripod was stuck. How funny! Thanks for your sweet comments...I would have never guessed that you meant it that way...but thanks for the clarification, Stacy!:)
February 25th, 2013
@amandalomonaco Haha, it's like when someone posts a status on facebook that has some good stuff but then some really bad stuff as well and you click "like" and then think, "Wait! I didn't mean that I *liked* that they lost their job, just that I *liked* their viewpoint on how it actually could turn out to be a good thing" or whatever, lol!
February 26th, 2013
@istacy1011 Yes, I've been weirded out by those types of likes before! Ha!
February 26th, 2013
Haha love this. awesome pov, lighting and focus. You are one very creative lady =)
February 26th, 2013
@tanja_1211 Thanks, lady. Always trying to come up with something different. It's so fun for me!:)
February 26th, 2013
Ha ha! This is so fun! I love how you are just barely in the shot - really adds to the sneaky feel of it.
February 26th, 2013
@emrob Great comments, Mandy. Thanks so much. I was annoyed with my placement...I had another where I was in it better, but I looked uglier so I couldn't go with it. Dang that bulging vein that creeps out in my forehead when I take photos sometimes!:)
February 27th, 2013
LOL! Brilliant
