I was just trying to take a photo of my sweet kids being goofy when this obscene photobomber starts waving his middle finger wildly behind them. I suspect that he was giving the bird to the judges of tonight's photo competition.
Notice my photo framed and on the wall behind the rude photobomber. Unfortunately, "Foggy Fences" did not place in the event. While disappointed, I was so happy to have been even accepted into the show and will perhaps place next time around.
We were all surprised at the photo that was selected as "Best in Show." Truly photography is subjective. Here is the link with the first prize winning photos and best in show: http://www.middletownartscenter.com/photo13win.htm.
I think you can be very proud to be amongst the photo elite! We all loved that photo and it is framed beautifully! Love these children too - great photo in that light!
so good that you are not discouraged! amazing to have been selected and get that far! glad you have a positive attitude and will keep trying...that shot is fantastic! you should have US be the judges!
Congrats on getting into the show! That is a huge accomplishment. It must have been an exciting moment to see your photo hanging in the gallery to be admired by all.
You should be very proud you made it into the competition. Congrats. Forget about the guy behind, your children look adorable and I'm sure they were very proud of mom.
That is such a cool shot of your children!
And congrats again. I think even being accepted is an honor. I think one of my favorite things about photography is how subjective it is - except when I have one I love and it doesn't go anywhere
@gigiz It was nice. A big fat ribbon next to it would have been nicer, though;-). Thanks, Gigi! Hey, we did similar selfies yesterday (though I wasn't wearing rocks). Great minds think alike:).
Thanks so much, guys. The great thing about being in the show was that it forced me to finally print a photo...the first one that I had in more than a year of being into photography. It was so great to see it printed and even nicely framed. This wasn't the best photo (my shot for the day), but I liked the story it conveyed. Also the man wasn't really flipping the bird, but I liked that it looked like he was. So funny! Thanks again and happy weekend!:)
Such a cute shot of your little ones and how cool to see your shot there on the wall! I'm sorry you didn't place, but like others have said, how awesome to be a part of it! And great that you printed a photo. There are so many more in your project that you should. And for what it's worth, your work is some of my favorite here. I'd have given you a ribbon! :)
I know exactly what you mean about photography, as well as all art, being subjective. I joined a camera club this year in hopes of learning some things about composition, processing and other techniques. All it has turned out to be is about the competition. Each member cam submit up to three prints or digital images. The whole time is spent on judging these photos. A couple of weeks ago, three members of our club judged digital images submitted by another club. So I went to observe the judging. I picked out ones that I liked as they were shown. I ended up with 4 out of 25. The judges were to pick best of show and 10 others. Not all of mine made their "Elegant Eleven." They pared it down to two for best of show then finally selected the BOS. While it was a beautiful flower photo I liked a fog shot better. Nothing was said as to why they chose the one they chose. I guess that is what is so frustrating about art. I all depends on the judge(s) and what they like.
Awesome that you entered a contest and were accepted into the show/exhibit! I love that you stepped out and your children there to celebrate with you! That's what it's all about; wonderful capture of the memory.
@skipt07 Oh Skip, I just had a harsh experience in my first official camera club meeting...see my post with my description of it yesterday. I know it is subjective and she even premised with that before she ripped into my image. Oh I need thicker skin. Thanks for your comments and for relating. Hey, I went to Amish country in OH yesterday, too! So awesome. More photos to come...
@moreyoulessme Thanks so much, Jerri. It was quite an honor to make it that far:). I hope to place someday!
I'm sorry you didn't get a big fat ribbon. :-( I've got to say, I don't even LIKE the entries from the guy that won BOS.
Your foggy fence is fabulous and it must make you so proud to have been selected to be part of the show. AND now you have a beautiful piece of art for your home. :-)
Congrats for making it as far as you did!
@wenbow It was pretty cool. It was nice to see that it belonged up there. Hope to place someday!:) Thanks, friend!
@pasadenarose Thanks so much. I was not at all a fan of his either. Very strange. Really appreciate your sweet comments. Maybe I will get a ribbon someday!

This shot is great, it's real, and they are cuties

The winner in animal color and best in show were the same photographer. I wasn't a fan of his work...not my style at all.
