Amanda, the creeper, strikes again. Today I decided to finally attempt panning for the first time. It's been on my list for awhile and since I was finally given a motion photography push for get pushed this week, I thought that the time was right.
I took the camera to the bus stop with me while I waited for the kids to come home and shot the cars along the busy road as they went past. Out of 156 shots, this was the best. It happened to be a vehicle driven by a neighbor and fellow bus stop parent and he saw me and wondered what the heck I was doing following his car with my camera. I looked like a cop running radar or something sinister. Next time, I dress in camo in hopes to blend in with the trees. Maybe then I won't look so creepy.
**Update: I emailed this photo to my neighbor and he thanked me for making his car look so clean and nice. Editing is wonderful like that:)!**
Nice effort. I have tried many myself with mixed results. With a shutter speed of 1/40th to 1/30th the blurr is better but its harder to get the subject sharp. Its a matter of trial & error. Keep up the good work.
@rachelwithey Hey, lady...I finally attempted panning today. It was tough to do and pretty embarrassing, but I was happy with this shot. Better than I expected it to turn out.
@fullcircle Shew, glad to hear that there are fellow creepers out there;-). Thanks for making me feel better, Cindy! I think that you have to be a little creepy to be a photographer, right?!
This is on my short list for next things to push myself on. It's good to hear it's not as easy as it looks, because just a causal effort once in awhile has made me wonder if there was somehing I just wasn't getting.
This shot came out great. I'll be looking forward to the results of your camo spy shot though. :^)
Fantastic. This worked really well. The focus on the car is really sharp. Your story made me laugh. I think either camos or some kind of balaclava as a disguise next time - you wouldn't want to get yourself a reputation!
You are too funny! I suppose we shall read about your arrest soon. Nice shot, next time try 1/60 of a second shutter speed. I learned to pan racecars back in the 1970's with my dad's old fully manual 35mm SLR.
Haha - you've made me laugh. Can just imagine mad lady at bus stop. This looks good to me - sharp focus on car and background blur. Perhaps hide in the bushes next time or perhaps not on second thoughts :)
@kwind Ha! Thanks, Kim. They've got to love me.;-)
@aleksandra I've gotta try again sometime. Thanks, lady.
@malc Thanks, Malc. Glad that you shared the laugh. So funny...sheesh! I will have to try again as I love good panning shots!
@rachelwithey Thanks so much, friend! Loved the push. You did so well with it. Can't wait to try again sometime!! Maybe tomorrow I can be the creepy woman panning along the bike trail;-). No seriously...
@dh Ok, that is the best comment ever. If I could fave it, I would!! Thanks for the huge laugh!!:)
@soboy5 Yes, I need to do that. And if/when I get arrested, I will call you! Thanks, Danny!
Nicely done. Great focus on the car. I wonder about it myself, worrying that I could be a distraction for drivers and don't want to be responsible for a crash.
@bardejov I know. Maybe hold a sign telling what we are doing? Wait, no, people would be distracted reading it. Sheesh, who knows. Maybe dressing in camo and hiding in a tree is best!!;-). Thanks, sweet lady!
@archaeofrog Shoot, I just can't not look creepy to my neighbors!!!;-) Thanks, Katie!
Nice one

@helixconcepts Thanks, lady. Glad that you can relate. I think that photographers are just naturally creepy at times;-).
@squamloon I must do my disguised camo selfie to show me in my creepy glory. Thanks, man!
@northy You got a point there, friend. Dang it. Off to come up with a less creepy disguise! Maybe I could dress as a cop?!
@aleksandra I've gotta try again sometime. Thanks, lady.
