Yesterday I was trying out new tricks with my camera. I was attempting to capture the butterflies flitting around with a longer exposure. Trouble is, I have a hard time holding perfectly still. This is a UCM shot (unintentional camera movement), but I rather liked the dreamy, painting like effect. If you look close, you can see some butterflies in the shot almost bokeh looking.
Made for a nice abstract though! Just checked your exif info, you could have dropped your f/ to about 11 which would have brought your exposure time down to under a second. Even if you are on a tripod and you want blur from people (which is what you were aiming at for your trip) 2.5 second is way too long - you'll likely just get grey haze over your shot as they will have come and gone! You could have reduced your f/ number to 11 and if that was still giving over a second increase your ISO to 200 or maybe 400.
Hope that helps...Have a fabulous weekend your self
Thanks for all of your lovely comments on my happy mistake, my UCM madness. Thanks for your encouragement and pointers. Hope that I didn't make anyone sick with this shot;-). Happy Monday!
