Last night I went to an outdoor yoga class held on the pool deck at our gym. They offer outdoor yoga as a special thing maybe once a month in the warmer months. I'd been wanting to do it for awhile and was so glad that I did. The photo was not properly exposed and came out somewhat grainy with the edit, but I just loved the flare and the position of it and went with it because I still loved it.
I do yoga once a week and usually it's in a hot room. Being outside and there during the golden hour was a pretty awesome change.
My challenge was attempting to take the class and then periodically stepping up to take photos (all the while being inconspicuous). It was pretty tough to do, but I got some good photos in the end and I was glad that I did it. I'd been wanting to do yoga photos for months. Next time, though, I think that I will go just for photos.
We did eventually get rained out, but not before seeing a gorgeous double rainbow. And I did take a photo in my strangest pov position yet. I took a shot while I was in a yoga pose... http://365project.org/amandal/themes-challeng/2013-07-14
Thanks so much for your comments. I ended up reuploading a slightly different edit. And Paul, I did tag it. I had thought to and then with your encouragement, I did it. Thanks!
This looks a little bit HDRish, but i don't imagine HDR would even be possible with moving subjects..? The sun is PERFECTLY positioned regarding Foreground Girl!
@tabbycat Just edited to hell to make it look decent. I had the settings way off, but I loved it too much to discard. I so loved the placement of the sun. It was tough to shoot class, while doing yoga and trying to be subtle.
@nana2r It is so fun. I really love it. We have an especially great teacher who is not very into the spiritual aspect of it and plays the best booty shaking music. I dance during class and sing along to the tunes.
@adamj Yes, of course. It was rather awkward trying to take photos, though. I took one shot while in an upside down yoga pose. See the link above. Next time I do this, I think that I will focus on photos first and then jump into the class. Going back and forth was tough. So much fun outside for a change, too!!
@archaeofrog I really liked it, Katie. I wish that I had gotten the exposure right, but I was just trying to take quick unobtrusive shots, all the while doing the class. It was fun. They offer it under the stars. I so want to do, that. Oooh, the cool silhouettes that I could capture with a tripod. Hmmm, maybe too obvious and obnoxious!
Thank you all so much for your comments. Can't wait to try my hand at yoga shots again. And I think that next time I will take the shots first and then join the class rather than shooting between my legs and jumping up every once in awhile. It was rather awkward.
