Today I tried out my remote timer again and my new tripod. The timer didn't work as well as last time...seemed to have a pretty short range. And after slowly breaking my old tripod (parts popped off most times I used it), it finally bit the dust for good when I ripped off a leg when setting up for my last selfie. I guess I am pretty rough on my tripods. This new one seems like a battle beast so I hope that it will last longer and hold up under my abuse.
In the winter, I took a selfie at this gazebo in the freezing cold. It was in the 20's and icy out and I came home numb after only taking 4 shots. It ended up being one of my best shots yet: http://365project.org/amandal/365-year-2/2013-03-03
I went back this morning and it felt like it was 100 degrees out. Just sweltering. Here I was just taking a few photos in the shade and dripping with sweat. Please pardon my sheen. What a difference a 4 months makes. Sheesh.
I'm rough on tripods too. As are my children. Sigh. Doesn't help that I just buy the cheapo ones anyway. I recognized the gazebo! You look great! Those should be RED daisy dukes though!! :-)
@simon0128 Thank you, Simon. That was my goal for the year. Last year, I did a bunch, but they were mainly goofy and poor quality with my P&S. I wanted to master them this year. So glad that I am improving and reaching that goal! If you care, check the tag above 'alselfie' to see my progression. My first one ever was dreadful!!!
Yes, I am very rough on my tripods. I think that the old was just kinda cheap and I don't know my own strength;-). I will tread carefully with this new one. Thanks so much for your sweet comments about this sweaty selfie. Glad that the sweat didn't show too much. It was so stinkin' hot. I really needed to towel off (it was like I was working out) and all I had was a tissue. Staying indoors today and maybe heading to the pool later. The heat is crazy!
I love your courage and determination - my only selfies I hide behind the camera - You look great and the composition is always interesting and often unexpected - predictability doesn't do much for me!
@kittikat Kitti, you are so sweet to say that. Thank you so much. My goal this year was to rock the selfie. So I've been working on that a bunch. I am getting there and really enjoy doing them.
