I totally made this little snow dude today. For real!! We woke up in the morning to a thin blanket of the righteous white stuff on the ground. Oh yeah!
My kids threw their winter jackets over their jammies, stuffed their feet in their snow boots and headed onto the deck or our backyard snow box. They played most of the morning before having to get ready for school. I took oodles of photos of them playing and of the sunrise and the snow outside and they all came out mediocre. Yesterdays shots were like that too. Only so so. I want to be past that. That I am not annoys me.
So, I ran outside and threw this dude together for a quick photo. He'll suffice for now. I probably should have added more parts but the snow was pretty melty and not holding together well.
Anyone remember my snowman from earlier in the year?! I didn't have the before photo (because it was only mediocre), but I did have the after shot here: http://365project.org/amandal/365-year-2/2013-01-04 It's pretty funny and worth the read, if you have a moment.
And after you see that, you should check out today's after shot: http://365project.org/amandal/themes-challeng/2013-11-12 I swear I didn't push the dude. He melted away in a matter of minutes. And died so perfectly that I had to take another photo of the cold dead body. Does it make me sick that I find this humorous? Maybe don't answer that...;-).
@kwind Aw, thanks so much, Kim!! I can't believe it either. Mostly melted now. Last year our first freak snow was on Oct 30th. I had to check 365 for the date:)!
No snow here, thankfully. Too early for that. But, it's bitter cold. Cute picture though. I love to look at snow pictures....just as long as I don't have to be in it! LOL!
He is one cute dude! And you got great bokeh, lovely lighting, had fun watching the kids And you got the perfect snow dude crime scene shot - what more do you want first thing in the morning! I was probably still fast asleep while all this was going on in your part of the world. But I am slightly worried about your fascination with dead bodies at the moment ;-)
He's unique, a pity he won't last long! My kids always used to rush outside with coats over their pyjamas - we don't get much snow so they wanted to make the most of it before it disappeared.
Awwww! What a fun morning that sounds like. The only real fun of snow for me is seeing the kids play in it!....well now that I have been on 365 I see how photogenic it is. I'll be sticking with cactus and palm trees for the winter though.
i'm not prepared for snow. well, i am, with new winter boots that's guaranteed to warm my feet up to -30 degrees. but still. no snow, please. your snow dude is gorgeous though.
@thirtysevenways High five for the fav! I wish I had taken a little more time with my dude. I had more buttons...I could have given him buttons and a Mr. Bill mouth. Maybe the second snow dude will improve. I don't have much experience in the snow yet.
@tonydebont Shoot, I forgot the arms. This snow business is still pretty new to me:)!
@moreyoulessme Hope that you get some snow. It's so fun and pretty!!
@cazann It is annoying, but I think that it was mostly because I took a bunch of shots rather than being selective. I've been much more selective this year and usually do pretty well with just a few shots. In the end there were some good ones, but a much lower ratio. Must shoot less...When I am sorting through loads of losers it brings me down. Today's image was one of those meh images, but after playing with it, it's pretty nice. Thanks, lady!!
Thanks so much for your very cool comments about this cool little now melted dude. He was a good snowman for the few minutes that he lasted. My next will be much more detailed. A mouth, buttons, a hat, heck I'll even give him some arms. You wait and see...Thanks, friends!
@jyokota I thought that he looked rather like Jay Leno with that big chin. Thanks, lady!!
@psychographer Last year our first snow was Oct 30!! So we are slower to start this year. We don't get much. A few snows a year or so. There is still some on the ground but melting quickly.
@bristolrose Aw, thanks so much for the fav, kind friend!!

@thirtysevenways True. Feel better about sending him to school tomorrow. Looking forward to the freedom, too. A extra kid home makes a big difference.

@edie I do, too...such a sweet dude!! Thanks!
@jyokota Glad I'm not the only crazy one. I wasn't going for that, but it sorta melted into that. How funny!
