The Gateway to the Foggy Forest by alophoto

The Gateway to the Foggy Forest

I am not getting out much these days. I've been pretty homebound for a week plus.

But today, I got to go to the gym to my favorite hot yoga class and had a blast. It felt great to leave home, have a break from the kids, sweat and run (I did this for 15-20 minutes before class). Oh how I needed that.

Besides the amazing workout (and competing with the dude next to me with push ups...we were neck and neck), the highlight happened when I was running into the gym in the rain. I had on a red jacket and had the hood up to keep dryer. A little girl pointed and said "Look, Little Red Riding Hood!" as I ran by. I laughed out loud and thought "If she only knew..." So stinkin' funny!

I got home and noticed that it was foggy. I love fog, the way it makes things hard to see and mysterious. I feel like I am in a fog these days, too.

Happy weekend!
Nice and glad it was a good day! Love the fence, fog and bare trees... Looks like you still have some snow on the ground as well.

I like the way you have left the foreground with snow in this nice picture of tall trees!

Love foggy pictures, I managed to completely miss taking any shots when we had fog this week, that will teach me for going to bed late and sleeping in!

Such a beautiful and serene shot, Amanda. Lovely!
December 15th, 2013
Love the fog and the image, Amanda, but what I really enjoyed was the little girl's comment!
December 15th, 2013
Funny story. Maybe she really knew... Anyway, I enjoy the feeling of mystery and anticipation in this image. Like, what's through the gate?

Love your foggy view....what a funny story!
December 16th, 2013
@megmills Just stepped right outside my front door in my slippers coatless and shot this. Very uninspired lately. SO hard with the move and sick kids. Hope to do a few good shots this week that I have in mind. Thank you!!!
December 16th, 2013
nicely done!

@bobfoto The red reference in the story was funny. Got a fb notification from you yesterday and my mouth gaped for a beat. How's your year going? Mine is ok. Feeling less and less into 365, but trying new things and starting new healthier habits with my life. Hope you are well. Your mud man gonna TT today? Hope so.
January 24th, 2014
@amandal - 33 faves wasn't enough to see ol' Muddy get onto the TT. I see the #2 shot by the Se7en got 112 faves. That's massive numbers. Nice work being recognised by the little girl outside the Gym.

@bobfoto It's gotten crazy up there. Recently I had 50 some faves (I think) and was #20. That was the Photo Freak week. I tried to make a playdoh photographer sculpture this week thinking it might be nearly as cool as photo freak and it bombed. Losing followers left and right. So it goes when you are not caring, not much commenting, not really getting out of the house for photos and all of your shots are basically the same...backyard, sun, trees and snow. Happy weekend. Oh and that was so cool that she recognized me. She probably saw me on the internet;-). I remember back in the day getting on TT with 20 something faves. It's a crazy world now. You did good with earth man. Congrats.
January 25th, 2014
@amandal - I hear you... Back when Frogmato hit 150 faves, there was only three other shots higher. That Michael guy from the NY and that Aaron guy who stands in freezing lakes. Now some of my followers have bailed, my Frogmato is back to only 133 faves. (I should start a thread?)

Swings and roundabouts.
January 25th, 2014
@bobfoto Bailer suck. 150 is sick. Wow...and those other guys are crazy:). How do you know about buying a vowel? That's so American pop culture.
January 25th, 2014
I don't even know frogmato, I don' t think. Not one of the 150. @bobfoto
January 25th, 2014
@amandal - frogmato peaked a few years back, but every now and then someone gets an amphibian up on a piece of fruit. It became one of the must-have-photos on the 365 for a little while. But sadly, the humour of Frogmato was lost on some and I put a few noses out of joint... their loss.

And Aussies used to sit down to watch the Wheel of Fortune every night before tea.
January 25th, 2014
Tag it... I wanna see. I'd seen references to it, but didn't know where it started
You #1 photo? I grew up watching Wheel of Fortune. Remember when they used to shop with their winnings? I think it is still on. @bobfoto
January 25th, 2014
@amandal - It was interesting how quickly you would take sides and wished someone to get 'top dollar' or 'bankrupt' without really knowing the person... kinda odd how judgemental we can be so quickly.

This is where it all started. Click on the frogmato tag and you'll find 60 shots. Type in frogmato into the search and check out some of the discussions - they're hilarious.
January 25th, 2014
@amandal - and this was the thread that got some people uppity.

January 25th, 2014
@bobfoto Was yours an aussie version or the Pat Sajack, Vanna White, America version. I don't remember being judgemental. Thanks for the links.
January 25th, 2014
@amandal - I know who Vanna White is... she got press time in Australia, but no, we had Ian 'turps' Turpie and other hosts who I cannot remember at this point of time. We did have the lovely Adrianna Xenides who was the Aussie version of Vanna. She survived several male hosts during her time on the show, but died not long after the show finally wound up.
