My kids are doing something that their mama didn't much experience growing up...playing in the snow. My similar play was on a hot sandy beach. It thrilled me that they were building an ice fort. Next time, I want to be out there and help them. Maybe we can make an igloo or a snow tunnel, or...
After Lucas put on the finishing touches here, he laid down with his head in his rather small fort and took a rest.
A few minutes later, I called the kids in for mugs of rich, steaming cocoa. Loved the look of their red Hummel like cheeks when they came inside.
More snow this weekend. Tomorrow it's going to be -14 degree. That is 14 below 0 and 46 degrees below freezing. Sick and wrong I tell you! How many days until spring? This lady needs some warm sunshine and flowers.
I've been not feeling it much this year. My family is still pretty over me taking photos and doing 365. I still love it, though, yet have cut way back. I feel horrible for not responding much to your comments and not commenting much on your photos. I really do appreciate you and love seeing your photos when I look, but am just needing to put my priorities in place better this year.
Very nice fort, and well done with the roof reinforcement! No driveway piles from the snowplow? Those were always the best for tunnels. (The end of driveway ones, not the near-street ones, of course.) We built an igloo one time using a square bucket - super awesome!
@archaeofrog I don't know. We don't get that much snow. Just 5-6 inches at a time on the ground. More tonight. Maybe we'll have a "too damn cold day" off of school tomorrow and we can try.
Very cute! These are my memories growing up in Chicago -- my two brothers and I once created a huge mountain of snow piling it up from across the yard and driveway (ages about 8 to 13). When my parents came home (I was babysitting my younger brothers for a few hours), we had the youngest hide and my brother and I told our parents we'd buried him under the snow. They didn't find it funny....Your photo brought it all back so thanks! And no worries re commenting -- just post and have fun, commenting when you can but keeping priorities in order!
Snow was so much fun when I was little. I still enjoy it but it''so been a long time since I belly flopped on my Flexible Flyer, bouncing over the snow, loving every minute of, even the upsets.
Aww, what a fun capture! Brings back memories of when I built snow forts with my siblings back when we lived in Minnesota - a very looooooooong time ago!
How exciting for the kids. Lovely winter scene. Hope you can balance your family life and photography. I enjoy your photos. And yes, I'm ready for spring now too...and we don't have it as cold as were you are.
Looks like so much fun. What a cute shot. You have a lot of snow. We still have no rain, no snow in the mountains, in the low 30's in the mornings and up to 79 mid day. It cools as soon as the sun goes down. Wanna ship us some snow? Hope the days to come are not too bad for you guys. Watching the weather and it does not look very good.
Lucas is a great constructor! He seems to be really worried about the stricture lol What a cutie. it looks like a lot of fun to play with snow. The only thing they can do here for fun when itΒ΄s so hot is making sand castles :)) Lovely image. Perfect pop of red.
I'm with you, Amanda. I need to cut back and catch up on other stuff, but haven't done it yet. This photo reminds me of my own childhood. Very nostalgic.
great fun shot, snow is much better to play in than the rain. 365 is time consuming, do what is right. after my year is completed I will certainly continue on my own terms :-)
@amandal I will have to take photos of history being made, rain finally and hopefully more to come soon. Our neighbors tree had just started blooming flowers today. Totally crazy.
@amandal You crack me up. I hope it rains all night and day tomorrow and more comes as we really need it. Since it is so dry it could be a big mess if we get a downpour. I always say "if" as there is never a 100% guarantee of rain or a downpour as you know. Hoping!
@amandal It is supposed to rain tomorrow night into Thursday. Will have to wait another day. Did you check out what I posted on my FB page? The lakes in the area so dry. Such a sad scene.
@amandal Thanks, Amanda. Glad you looked at them to see just how bad it is. We got so little rain today and are supposed to be poured on tonight starting at 10pm through Thursday but does not look promising. Posted about the rain today and will share what a friend posted about Folsom Lake on my FB page if I can. You have to look at it. Wow. I hope you are doing well and keeping warm.
