We discovered a light patch in our house the other day. A square of warmth where the sun shone brightly into the family room from the skylight. First we saw, Hope, our pup, lying in it...the smartie pants. I love how animals bask in the sun. When I get the chance, I do it myself as it feels soooo nice and warm, so good.
After a bit, we enjoyed it ourselves. Clara sat down first with her little baby and animals and quietly played. Singing to herself in the sun and cuddling her soft dollies. Such a little girl, such a moment in time. My sweet girl in the warm light. Then she and I played cards in the light. Jockeying to get into it...trying hard to share. Love times with my little lady.
Pretty things are nice, they are lovely to look at. I capture lots of pretty things in my photos. But more important than the pretty things, are the moments. The peeks into the human soul. Shots that tell a story, capture a moment, show human emotion. One that move you to feel. I want more of these.
And I uploaded a b&w version here to see your preference: http://365project.org/amandal/themes-challeng/2014-02-13. So torn sometimes, but I think I preferred the retro color as this reminded me of my childhood and I wasn't so much from the b&w ere:).
@heidihp I bought my first one with my own money. I had to be on a waiting list for what seemed like months. And it took me forever to save up my allowance so that I could get one. It's Amanda;-). Thanks!
@amandal OMG So sorry Amanda, I don't even know where 'Laura' came from, I don't even follow a Laura! (a blonde moment). Those were the days eh when all we wanted was a doll!
This photo captures all that you could hope for. I love your out there creative shots but the ones of your children always show not just your creativity but the heart and sweetness of your "models". You must be a great mom, even if they complain a bit that you spend too much time with this project.
Yup, prefer the color. Such a sweet shot. I agree, the shots that convey something of the human condition are the best :-) (and if they are of our kids... TOTALLY the best!)
I love the thought of your light well. What could be better within a photographer's house. The photo of your daughter is so dear. I can see her caring nature coming through.
@vega Really appreciate that, lady!!!
@rvwalker Love your kind words and comments, Ross. Thank you!!!
